Valuation Explanation
Local Moves
Basic Coverage - this coverage is automatically included at no additional charge. This coverage is .30 per lb per article. For example.. if a customer has a 10lb lamp and it gets broken during a move, the most they could receive for it is $3 (regardless of its actual value.)
Full Value Coverage with $250 deductible – The customer must choose a fair value for their items being transported with a $10,000 minimum. The cost is $70 per $10,000 of coverage. For example . . . if a customer has a $350 lamp that gets broken during a move, they would be responsible for the $250 deductible and would receive $100 from our company.
Full Value Coverage with $0 deductible – The customer must choose a fair value for their items being transported with a $10,000 minimum. The cost is $120 per $10,000 of coverage. For example . . . if a customer has a $350 lamp that gets broken during a move, they would recieve $350 from our company.
In State (Intra-State) Moves
Basic Coverage – this coverage is automatically included at no additional charge. This coverage is .60 per lb per article. For example . . . if a customer has a 10lb lamp and it gets broken during a move, the most they could receive for it is $6 (regardless of its actual value.)
Full value Coverage – The amount of coverage needed is determined by multiplying the weight of the load by $4. For example a 10,000lb load would require $40,000 of coverage. The customer can choose a $0, $250, or $500 deductible for this coverage. Kearney Moving's maximum liability is the lesser of $4 per lb per article or an item's actual value. For example . . . if a customer had no deductible and a 10 lb lamp was broken, KMS would owe the customer a maximum of $40. Actual cost of this coverage can be determined by the sales office.
Out of state (Inter-state) Moves
Basic Coverage – this coverage is automatically included at no additional charge. This coverage is .60 per lb per article. For example . . . if a customer has a 10lb lamp and it gets broken during a move, the most they could receive for it is $6 (regardless of its actual value.)
Full value Coverage – The amount of coverage needed is determined by multiplying the weight of the load by $6. For example a 10,000lb load would require $60,000 of coverage. The customer can choose a $0, $250, or $500 deductible for this coverage. Atlas Van Lines will determine current value of a lost, damaged, or destroyed item and settle the claim by replacement, repair, or cash settlement. For example . . . if a customer had no deductible and a $200 lamp was broken, Atlas Van lines would verify the current value of the lamp and settle accordingly. Actual cost of this coverage can be determined by the sales office.
